Patients of Keratosis follicularis spinulosa decalvans

Clinical Features:
The patient presented with alopecia and multiple keratosis pilaris-like lesions. She did not develop hair and multiple blackish skin-coloured horny lesions were found all over her body. Between ages 2-6 years, hair light hair growth was observed by the patient's mother, but it was reported to shed quickly. Multiple keratotic papules with follicular plugging were present all over the body. Few strand of hair was found on found on the crown are of head-on examination, the hair strands appeared to be brittle. The patient had no eye lashes. Few patches of non -scarring alopecia were found over the scalp. Palms, soles, nail and mucosa were unaffected. There was no history of photophobia, no evidence of physical or mental retardation. Eye examination was unremarkable. Scalp biopsy revealed multiple follicular plugging with perifollicular lymphocytes and plasma cells with absence of hair.
treatement and management:
Topicalkeratolytics, emollients, and Vitamin A derivatives had shown some improvement. The use of isotretinoin in the active stage can give better result. The child on oral isotretinoin 5 mg per day which prevented shedding of hair in 8 week time .
